Expanding the ENGAGEUROPE Community across Europe

Alongside the meeting with the Spanish Community, this week Youropía also brought together ENGAGEUROPE participants living in other European Union countries, creating another opportunity for young people from different backgrounds to connect, exchange perspectives and strengthen the growing international community behind the project.

The session welcomed Jesmina Sengla, ENGAGEUROPE’s Project Coordinator at SCiDEV, the Albanian organisation leading the consortium. Beyond presenting the project’s structure and explaining the roles and responsibilities of the different partner organisations, Jesmina shared the story behind ENGAGEUROPE, reflecting on the collaborative effort, challenges and commitment that have shaped the initiative from its very beginning.

The meeting also created space for participants to share what had motivated them to join ENGAGEUROPE and what they hoped to gain from the experience. Many highlighted their interest in deepening their understanding of democratic processes, the evolution of the European Union and the importance of evidence-informed policymaking, recognising the value of informed participation in shaping more inclusive and effective public decisions.

Throughout the discussion, participants expressed both enthusiasm and a strong sense of responsibility towards the project. More than simply taking part in its activities, they showed a willingness to contribute actively to its development while strengthening their role as engaged and responsible European citizens.

The session combined practical information about the project with moments of personal reflection and dialogue, balancing intellectual exchange with the human dimension that lies at the heart of the ENGAGEUROPE Community.

At Youropía, we are delighted to see the ENGAGEUROPE Community growing beyond Spain and the project’s partner countries. We are especially grateful to all the young people who joined the meeting and for the commitment they have already shown to this shared journey. Their involvement reminds us that ENGAGEUROPE is built not only by its consortium, but also by the young people who help shape it every step of the way. In that sense, the word engage truly comes to life: participants are not simply invited to join the project—they become active co-creators of its future.
